A Settlement Agreement allows an employer and an employee to reach a mutual agreement in order to end a term of employment, which offers protections for both sides once the employee moves on.

The Government is looking to carry out an extensive review of 50-year-old legislation that determines how financial assets are split after divorce in England and Wales. A review of the current laws will be undertaken by the Law Commission, the independent body which reviews legislation. The review will seek to bring clarity to the existing laws and make suggestions which could improve the current legislation.

UK landlords have had cause for concern over recent legislation updates regarding Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings on commercial properties. The legislation, which came into force on 1 April 2023, states that all commercial properties need a minimum EPC rating of E. An EPC will give a property an energy efficiency rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient), valid for 10 years.
